The Whole Child Matters
ResCare Residential Program currently has
seven Master's Level Case
Counselors on staff. Our small size allows each of our counselors to be highly involved with our residents and you
will find them interacting with students in our recreational facilities, within the classroom, at meals,
and anywhere else the child may be.
In addition to providing individual therapy for each of our residents, counselors conduct two therapeutic groups
daily to help our residents develop personal responsibility
for their behavior.
A student’s discharge planning begins as soon as they are admitted. A treatment plan is developed within
a few weeks of the student’s arrival with a detailed look at the goals and expectations for the child’s time at RCRP.
We offer treatment programs for a variety of needs:
For those residents who struggle with Chemical Dependency we offer group and individual sessions
facilitated by a Certified Alcohol and
Drug Abuse Counselor (CADAC). CADAC led groups focus on relapse prevention strategies, the 12 step program, and issues
with denial. Case Counselor led groups focus on effects of chemicals, and signs and symptoms of abuse.
We stress Thinking Errors, or cognitive distortions, to all students at ResCare.
Students study 23 thinking errors such as excuse making, blaming, justifying, and 'I am unique'. Together, we attempt
to identify which thinking errors each student engages in as a result of their conflict with society.
This process also helps students express their anger appropriately and begin to work through their issues.
Our Horizons Group is conducted by both a male and female Credentialed
Sexual Abuse Youth Clinician
(CSAYC). Counselors are in compliance with IN-AJSOP best practice standards and ResCare is a recognized service provider.
Group, individual and family therapy sessions take students through 4 phases of treatment.

While in our Horizons Program, students also
undergo a sexual history polygraph to uncover behaviors at the beginning of
treatment and a maintenance polygraph
before completion ofthe program.
Anger Management Group uses curriculum from Anger Replacement Training (ART)
by Goldstein and Glick and The Anger Workbook by Dr.'s Minirth and Carter.
This group helps students identify anger triggers, gain coping skills, and learn how to express anger in a healthy manner.
Independent Living Group is provided for all age appropriate students.
The primary resource is the Ansel
Casey Independent Living Curriculum, which focuses on career planning, money management, communication skills and
daily living.
After Care is a very important part of our program.
Aftercare is included in regular per diem and is provided for 3-6 months after discharge.
