KLFT- Kids Learning Fun Things

Within the structure of our program we provide opportunities for students to learn a variety of things. Kids Learning Fun Things - or KLFT, for short - is a constantly changing, ever-increasing program we've created where we invite staff members, people from the community and other gifted individuals to come to our campuses and teach a skill, hobby or craft to our kids.

During the summer months have offered golf lessons, car detailing, and photography. Our art teacher has exposed our residents to a wide variety of art techniques - and soon we will set up a kinn for teaching the art of ceramics. We have established a bowling league, a photography club, and a choir that carols throughout the community during the Christmas season.

We have ongoing lessons in chess, guitar, and drawing.

Our girls participate in a vibrant Girl Scout troop led by one of our long-time female staff. It focuses a great deal on positive self-image, making good choices and learning how to laugh together in spite of touch times. Over the years they have served in the community, made scores of art projects and gone to camp each summer.

Our 'little' boys at the LaViolette Home can join our Boy Scout troop where they learn about the importance of good character, health and respect.
